Everything productions ask before shooting in Sicily.
Short answers to the questions we get most often. If your case is specific, write to us: we reply within 24 hours with timelines and indicative costs.
How do I get a permit to film in Sicily?
It depends on the location. Public municipal spaces require the comune's authorisation (10-30 days). Cultural heritage sites require the Soprintendenza's clearance (30-60 days). Private properties are arranged directly with the owner, which we handle. Sicily Locations manages the full process — including the required liability insurance — and often anticipates the workflow during scouting to compress timelines.
What are the best months to film in Sicily?
April-June and September-October offer the best light: warm, long, shapeable. July-August is peak tourism (busier locations, traffic, higher costs). November-March is excellent for historic interiors, clean landscapes and dramatic seas. Sicily Locations selects the right window based on the brief — not just the weather.
Can I browse your full location catalogue online?
No, by design. Our portfolio is not published: we represent private properties (historic villas, palazzi, country estates) whose owners do not want to be on public sites. We build a dedicated pitch for each production, accessible in a reserved client area with photos, layouts and operational details.
Can drones be flown in Sicily?
Yes, with ENAC authorisation. Typical timelines: 2-3 weeks for BVLOS flights or populated areas. Faster for VLOS flights in open spaces. A certified pilot (CRO) and specific insurance are required. We handle permits and pilot.
How much does a day of scouting in Sicily cost?
It varies by area, location type and number of sites. Indicative: €500-1,000 per day for bespoke scouting including recces, photography and report. Separate costs for travel, any property fees, and location manager fees if required on set.
Do you only work with big productions or also editorial shoots?
Both. We have served feature films, TV series, brand campaigns, fashion editorials, music videos and high-end private shoots. Service level is the same: only the scale of crew and required permits differ.
Do you also handle accommodation, catering, security?
Yes. We coordinate the full production ecosystem: hotels or villas for the crew, certified catering, security, generators, base camps, transfers, restrooms. We work with Sicilian suppliers vetted over the years.
How far in advance should I contact you?
Ideally 4-8 weeks before the shoot. For large productions (features, global campaigns) 2-4 months. For quick editorials we can also arrange in 7-10 days if the permit window allows.
